Thumbs up Admin Log in Security Feature
Version: 3.0.x
Hack Category: Administrative and Maintenance Tools

Can you guys make a hack for vb that does the following...

Everytime the ip address of the admin changes, the admin must receive a validation link or maybe a special pin number that they have to enter into vbulletin to verify that it is indeed the admin logging in and not a hacker or stranger.

This is for safety reasons.

I would prefer a validation link to be sent to the admin's email upon the change of an ip address. This will work only for admins, but can have the option to enable it for other user groups.

Thanks.

Follow up to this.....

The moment the ip address of the admin changes, the admin logging freezes and the board becomes inaccssible by admins until the validation email is received.

Ok, that's probably possible, but needs lots of coding.
My suggestion would be to use a .httaccess + user&password on your AdminCP...

Exclamation

1) Create in your admincp folder a file called .htaccess (dont forget the point before).

2) Put this code in that file
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
3) Create a file in a safe zone like /home/yourhomedir/ called .htpasswd (dont forget the point before)

4) Put this code in that file
You must first be a registered member to view any code.
To generate a .htpasswd file, go here: Dynamic Drive: .htaccess password generator

There are several ways to do this job. This is the one i'm using ;)
Cheers
