Default 2 Forums, 1 User Db

I saw a lot of threads at vB.org, but no one really showed how to do this.

I have Forum A, but would like to connect it with Forum B being that the two are not too far off from each other.

Some have said to use the same instance just make it look as if it is 2 seperate forums instead of just 1.

I need ideas because I am trying to make a hunting forum, and add a fishing forum with the same users so they don't have to register more than once...

thanks.
C

oke you must add this code to register.php
You must first be a registered member to view any code.

That will add the registered user to both the databases, full stop if I'm not mistaking.

I don't think thats what you are looking for?

I don't understand...is that all I have to do?

I have a hunting forum, and I want to open a fishing forum and I want them to share the users, from it...

Thats what I want to do.

could you not just import the user* tables from your hunting forum database and update your other forum with those user* tables? i believe that will do the trick.

hmm... its kinda hard to do what you are asking to do.
sharing users, is not a problem, just copy users table, to another DB, and add the following code.
if you want them to share the same threads, then just open sub-forum for fishin and that will do.
what i suggest you to do, is open 2 main forums, and each one of them have Sub-forums, and you can play with them catagories and stuff like that.
then write some own made index page, that will direct users to both places.
this way, you'll be able to use one DB, sharing the users and not force them to sign up twice, and not getting into double postings.
you can also do diffrent styles for each one of them (vbulletin options), its a smart system, just know how to use it
hope you understood what i ment here, if not, let me know, ill re-explain myself for you.

greets,
Fury.

What language is that SQL in?

And secondly just add the SQL to a page then add it in Cron Tasks and set it to run every 15 minutes or whatever you want and that will keep it upadted give or take 15 minutes ;)
