I think the fact that this site isn't told what to do by Jelsoft (is it?) helps a little.

vb.org have allowed a lot of mistakes to happen and they've all now exploded into something much bigger. But hopefully they'll sort themselves out and both sites can be beneficial to coders.
Remember when posting something bad about other sites that any site can go bad if allowed to, maybe a vbcoders.com will be talking about this site one day (though I hope not).

Personally I like the offerings of both sites (offerings != staffing policy) though having looked around I prefer this site at the moment because it isn't influenced by the company making the product, I think the skin is just a bit nicer to use especially forumdisplay.php, and thus far I haven't seen anyone threatened with a ban. On some of the forums I've been on recently ban seems to be second nature

Thanks for the great post and kind words ;).

And indeed, we hardly ever ban people. We only do so when someone directly breaks a rule which can get us into trouble, like stealing work from other sites. This however, is only a 7 day ban at first offense.
