Only thing is I'm not overly keen on vborg's no-reply policy. Posters often don't know what info a coder will need so asking for clarification in thread that everyone can see would be useful. Or sometimes people have their PMs switched off so you can't contact them.
One thing you might want to consider is a template for people to use. Things like: Description of work needed: Budget: Your experience as coder: {as talking to experienced coders who just don't have time is different to talking to people who don't even know what php really is} Contact me via: {pm | msn | email:} Completion status: {waiting for someone suitable || in progress || completed} Review of coder: {I hate people who get 10 hours work off you at a bargain price and won't update their thread to give you references}
Those are the fields that come immediately to mind. |
I included the same rule for our forum. And i'll tell you why.
If a user posts a thread for service, business is best conducted in private. A user should be able to pm the service provider and ask questions such as price, time-frame, ability, etc. If one service provider sees that another service provider is more qualified or offering a better price, the other service provider may through in false information and such. Also, being able to reply may lead to comments such as "I can do it cheaper, he sucks" or "that's a rip off" or "he doesn't know how to code, i'm better". At the end, business is best conducted in private. I was sure to let members know to be as descriptive as possible. Anything the service provider needs to know can be asked in a pm i suppose.
