i sure liked the video idea - awesome idea.
i used in the past the macromedia captivate application (helpdesk), it's indeed a great utility to make very cool (& small) flash videos.
if we ever decide to get into video tutorials, i think that has a huge hit potential over plain static pictures/text, as the old saying goes: 1 picture worth thousand words :classic:
imho i would suggest on developing some "special" video-tutorials system to better integrate/display those flash-videos rather than plain attachment (or even make system to allow upload of avi/mpeg & integrate those into flash files as well) - something like youtube perhaps, to show flash emmbeded videos into page, of course with style that will better suit vbulletin coding knowledge center & other usefull stuff around it.
sure, i can understand, it's amjor decision to go there, as it's most likely to hog site resources (BW for sure), but in generally i think it's worth it.

I can completely see where SirAdrian is coming from, but can also appreciate everyone else not wanting to lose the hacks. A workaround would be two sites. vbhacks.com or vb-hacks.com or vbhacksplace (you get the idea) and use vbhackers.com for what the name suggests.. vBulletin Hackers.

I agree that there is no real strong vB hackers community - but that doesn't surprise me, such a community could be very 'powerful' ;)

I think the Mentor scheme is a great idea, in fact I suggested this just yesterday on vb.org.. unfortunately, I don't think it will go through there but hey :alien: thank god there are places like this around who may share the vision..

I totally agree with SirAdrian however i will wait new owner to make my exact comment on this topic because after seeing the answers he received i don't think that vbhackers.com will go anywhere with this moderation team.

i think it's fair to say we are all (including staff members) waiting for the new owner announcment on the direction & specifics of what's going to happen here & the ways that he think should be taken to get us there & make things better. trust me when i say the staff members have very little knowledge of the specifics - so it's not like we are hiding anything from you on purpose. true, we are discussing several ideas & feedbacks from members as well, but from that to let you know on what's really going to be happen - i think there is only 1 man that can give you this answer, and that announcement should come soon enough (i hope).

I see the vbseo adverts have already started to appear. I hope this isn't to become just another promotion site for them.

I don't think the community would care so much if the content remains in it's quality form (which I predict it will) and the layout/structure benefits the community and contributors alike. To me personally, that's paramount.

I agree with SirAdrians's messages but i don't want to give my ideas here while this moderation team is on charge. If this community will remain with this moderation team i will never release my thoughts because i don't care a site where moderation team can post uncorrect information and miss guide people and claim it is true even people put proove in front of them.

do you care to give more details on who are those "bad moderators" you refer to ?
since i don't want to see any flamed thread here, would be best if you could please pm me the info & you have my word this will be brought up to discussion @ staff forum.
