Default vBulletin Variables Guide needed

Whenever I start working on a new mod, I spend an obscene amount of time searching to see if a particular piece of information I need is already stored in a variable.

I think an extremely helpful tool for developers would be a list of all the standard variables used by vBulletin, their scope, and code location where they are set, unset, modified, as well as the templates that use them.

Does such a list exist? If not, who would like to join me in taking on this task?

I don't think it exists. You can try check the vB documentation, but I doubt it has it.

Making this yourself would take too long. It's simply not worth it imo.

How is it not worth it? I think the worth to the vb development community would be incalculable!

For example, I need to know for a current project if a user belongs to a particular paid subscription, and if so, what forum(s) that gives the user access to. I can troll around for hours in the PHP files looking for queries, seeing what variables are set, seeing if they are unset or scoped to a function, etc.

Or, I could look at a variable chart and see immediately.

I can do my own query, certainly, but why re-invent the wheel or introduce extra queries to get information that might already be available in a system variable?

Well, making a list which includes every single variable with their scopes, set-ing, etc. would take up an insane amount of time. You're basicly re-inventing the whole plugin system.

I don't think anyone is willing to put in that much time FOC. You're better off coding your own PHPBB lookalike than :p.

This would be great information to have! Though could take along time to make. Maybe we could start a thread and people can add what they know to it?

Thats a good idea ;). Everyone can add the variables they're working with, and maybe some day we'll have a good list.

Someone could start with the big, widely-used arrays such as userinfo. That would at least get the ball rolling.
