Default .php or .php4 ???

so I redownloaded Vbulletin and installed it, but instead of choosing the .php files, I downloaded the .php4 files. Is this an issue for hacks/mods that I install? should I just go and download the .php files instead of .php4?? I asked my host what php was running for him and he said 4, so I went with that. thoughts?

You should redownload. It's not a good idea to run nonstandard extensions. Especially since you will need to re-configure your server settings to actually recognize the .php4 extension.

That is most likely there for folks that are running two php versions.

Of course you do, that is what it is supposed to be. ;)

The .php4 is just something they made up for people that run two versions of php and have their server specially set up to distinguish between php 4 and 5 scripts according to extension.
