Default Moving Servers

Hello,

I'm moving from my old shared server into a new dedicated one.
First thing i want to do is to change my vbulletin forum into the new server.
I'm trying for about a week to do this, but always fail.

I have about 5GB of files in the /home/dir and about 500MB of mysql data.
What is the best way of transfering this to new server?

First tried to tar and gzip all files. Then tried to upload to new server, but it takes more than 48h and connection goes down.
Already tried FTP, SCP, RSYNC, but all fail.

Any tip?

well, download the files via ftp to your computer, then reupload them.

Then use bigdump to help you with getting the new sql in

Ask the company that has your new server if they can help move the files. A lot of times they can do this for you. I know Site5 did this for us.
