This is not specific php related but i thought some of u might know the answer.

I have my forums dir protected with htaccess but i want to allow public access to one file.
Is there anyway to do this with php or even in the htaccess file ?

Yes the answer has been posted on the forums before but prolly not so easy to find simply do this.

Create a new file to place outside your htaccess protected dir the contents of the file should be as follows.

Ok thank you, that's helpfull but are you a 100% sure it's not possible within the htaccess file itself ?
If you are a 100% sure that it's not possible in the htaccess i can stop looking on google ;)
