Could someone suggest a way to solve this problem I seem to run into a lot:

I'm running the default skin and one additional skin on my board, so each time I install a new hack I obviously have to apply the changes for templates for both skins - no problem.

However, some hacks require images to be added (for example, the thank you hack/hide hack) and these images are designed to fit perfectly with the default skin.
However, when changing to the non-default skin, the images are totally out of place with the new color-scheme.

How could I have different versions of the images and use the appropriate one's based on whatever skin the user selects?

You should be able to change the locations calling for the graphics in both the templates or the Stylesheet.

I don't know about the Thank You hack, but whereever it calls for graphics you could change to a different directory and upload the graphics there for one of your styles.
