Default Currently Active Users Not Updating??

By default, it is set at 60 seconds to check to see if the user is still online, it was still showing people online after 10+ minutes. So I switched it to 30 seconds, and it's still a no go. Any ideas??? Using 3.5.4. Thanks!

This has something to do with the cookie timeout I believe. When a user closes his/her webbrowser, he'll remain active for a longer time. Those 60/30 seconds only count when someone effectively presses Log Out.

Whos online is compiled using the session table with a limit of the cookie timeout time.

That means if your cookie timeout is 15 mins and someone stops surfing your site, they will still show up for 15 mins and they'll be deleted from the session table later on.

The cookie timeout setting is under vb options > Cookies and HTTP Header Options, or www.yoursite.com/admincp/options.php?do=options&dogroup=http
(change yoursite.com to your site, obviously)

Setting it lower will mean people will disappear off the whos online list faster BUT people who don't tick "remember me" when they log in will be logged off if they go idle for that time.
i.e. If the timeout was 120 seconds and someone logged in without "remember me" ticked, then they went idle for 3 mins, they'd be logged out on next pageload which can be frustrating.

The default time is 15 mins, it shouldn't really be less than 10.

Agreed, its very annoying to read/post a medium to large sized thread, and log out in the middle of it.
