I deleted field1 (Biography) in the User Field Manager. I wonder if I can restore it?? When I create new field, the field number is default, I can't edit!

not really too sure on this but i beleive you can go into sql

trust me its useless anyway... no one ever fills out the biography

i have a solution to your problem ....
This may be time consuing depending on how many places use field1, but do the following.
Create a new custom userfield, Biography, set it up like the default, then remember its field number.

go to styles & templates and then select search all styles
do a find and replace in ALL styles and templates for "Field1" .... replace every instance of field1, with the correct number of your new biography field.

should fix this right up
