Default Can you help?

Hello,
please try to understand my bad english and hopefully I'm in the correct thread? If not, please tell me.

Before buying a full license of vb I scanned appr. 300 forumpages - most of them disappointing. There is still one exception: your forum with its style and throughout all pages consistent functionality! Great! So I've some questions:
1. I would like building up my own forum with some slight modifications of your style and templates. But how can I do it? I'm neither a professionell coder, hacker nor an expert in forumlayouts. I'm just a beginner in php, css and all around that, yes and I have vb 3.0.3.
2. What I can do: I easily setup my vb and got it running - thx to the developpers. I'm good with photoshop, so I can build up my own logo and my own buttons.
3. But how can I
3.1 make a listing of forums with a space between the different forums - as you did?
3.2 make a title-site?
3.3 make a big headline over the postings pages?
3.4 make my post-listings "hovering" - changing a little shade to the basic color?
3.5 make these stylish borders / riders with "virtual screw" you have been putting above your forums?

I would find much more questions about modifying my vb - most ideas are realized within your forum. Would you help me?

Thanks in advance,
steve

Hi everybody?
Are my questions too stupid for you? Sry, I really don't know (until now) anything about that php, js and so on stuff. But it would be nice, to get at least an answer.
What have I done wrong to be ignored?
Best wishes

You want to buy a license yet you have vb 3.0.3? Well thats not something to advertise on a legit site.

Anywho here is some of the answers -

We do not give out our style or templates. So you'd have to do it on your own. Changing the colors of the site is very simple using the administrator control panel, everything else you'd need to know *SOMETHING* of css and html. Or you can always goto vbulletin.org and download free styles.

Thats a start

Add a <br> in the forumhome display. I do not know EXACTLY where as I didn't make the style.

<-- No clue what you mean

I don't know what you mean.

We have a vb3 mouse rollover effect modification here on the site.

I'm not sure if it's public or if it's going to bed but your style should be different anyway. However styles are modified in "Styles & Templates / Style Manager /" then use the dropdown box to get to either CSS (colours of all the pages/fonts etc) , templates (coded layouts of sections ie extra buttons for the navigation bar etc.), stylevars (tell your style where to get it's new buttons from what directoy on your server) and a couple of other things.

3.2 make a title-site?
There's a whole bunch of different portal software like vbhome vbindex etc.. i don't know which is best as I don't use any of them.

That's all I know :p
All the settings which change how the forum looks are inside style manager.. just have a play (perhaps make a new style called test) and see how it looks.. better to learn from doing rather than listening

**Ahwell late phone rang :p**

Thats abit more "difficult" as Paul says, its not just adding a <br> but moving around some stuff in 3 forumhome templates. A mod like this already exists and can be obtained from vbulletintemplates.com

Thx for all your answers and some may help me. I'm sorry for my "broken" and misunderstandable english - that's nearly as hard as starting a forum without much knowledge about that stuff. I own a license of vb3.0.3 and want to make of course the best of it.
The "title page" is in my terms the first page one get entering your forum. The more fascinating is your "topic page" with listed topics. But -sigh- seems to be a hard job beside working to get all around that.
But thanks again for the first traces you've laid out for me. Maybe some day I will be satisfied with the style of may forum.
Best wishes,
Steve
