The only image I can see changed (for my sanity please agree) is the menu_open image? I'm sure this was default before and I have to admit it looks better now.

I know to some people it might not seem a big deal but these type of images people will normally forget about and in the end these "less important" images which are graphically tweaked can enhance a style no end.

Have you tried working on the subforum markers yet? the reason I ask is because I find it's always best working/replacing the images on the index page first and working your way into the postbit area.

So far, good work. :classic:

Yeah, I changed the menu_open, that is version number 200 something and I still don't like it, I already changed the subform markers, they now mirror the primary large post status icons. I also have been pulling my hair out to find something I like with the lastpost and viewpost images, I don't want to over power the text so I am trying to go minimal with anything in the text areas.

Did I mention I hate working on the little things (grin)

Thanks for all your help Shelley.

The sub forum markers look so much better and more importantly consistent with the theme which I'm glad to see.

With regards to the lastpost marker why not go with a kind of small rectangle shape with an indent underneath to give it a feeling of depth? off the top of my head I would use the same (or close) to the variation of colour you've used throughout the board with the white arrow shape. I would'nt go with a hard edge shape but something with a corner radius of about 2-3px.

Or you could go with a round shape (I might even have an image that might work for you) I designed it for one of my styles (which only my board uses) but if you would like to see an example I could post it here with the correct matte that will compliment your background colour it's being applied onto.

Really, I enjoy working with small images. I just select the pen tool and plod along for about an hour (55 minutes staring at photoshop, 5 minutes designing that image). Icon creation is something I enjoy which involves working with small images so I don't mind so much. Logos on the otherhand, that's another story.:knockedou

If there's anymore help or suggestions you need, give me a shout. And just so you know, the small tweaks you've made throughout the style are making a difference. Again, nice work.

Thanks Shelley,

What kills me is the new menu_open looks good on Firefox and terrible on MS IE, of course FF is a far better browser but the visual difference is shocking.

I broke down and decided to go for it and make a set of the textured, animated and rounded stuff to replace the rest of the default imagery; I also added 2 more green backgrounds for more variation in the forum tables.

Once I get every finished I would love to have you critique it again and make any suggestions, I really appreciate your help, board template design is something new to me, so I feel slightly out of my element here.

Cheers,

_V

Hi Butcher,

Thanks for the feedback, I am going to spend another 100 hours and go back through the whole site and detail everything until its perfect, I am glad some one enjoyed the intro (grin) Did you see both of the primary header movies, I am working on ideas for some new ones, just open the clock on your computer, click the am/pm setting and refresh the portal page, the mini header in the forum also changes out the cross for teeth.

Cheers,

_V

Hi Hicham,

Thank you very much, though forum template design isn’t really my strong point I’m trying hard to get it right (grin)

Cheers,

_V

It's me again. :nervous:

I took a look at some of the changes you made and feel that the lastpost images are still not right somehow. I hope you don't mind but I tested out an image (i previously designed) and think it would look better giving off a focus point where it's lacking. Again, I hope you don't mind me intruding but I thought I would post the image and let you judge for yourself. ;)

I've attached the lastpost.gif icon for you to try. I know how much you hate working with small images. :classic:

Hi Shelley,

You’re a Goddess among mortals (grin) I don’t mind at all, and appreciate the help greatly.

I am not sure of which looks better, I have attached screen shots of both, + a new animated one I am working on at the moment.

What do you think?
