Right guys, converted the site to vBulletin couple weeks ago and did a quick style so we could get back up and running again.

IMO it looks dull, ive posted a service equest over at vb.org for a new site header and logo as I think it needs it.

great to hear what you guys think on the site and any way it can be improved.

cheers:p

A recent topic you created asking for suggestions on what kind of design you implemented was possibly missed by yourself when I replied. I would advise you take a look and possibly the brief reply I suggested might help and enduce other ideas to give the style a more appropriate feel to it.

It's not that the style is dull. It's just not relevant to the theme of your site. Colours were possibly implemented incorrectly which gives off that inconsistent feeling which is why comments are stated as "bland", "dull" etc.

Colour usage is important and I think you should concerntrate with that first and make this your first priority. Afterwhich, Design the appropriate relevant images that will compliment the theme and style colours.

Keeping colour usage and consistency in mind and you won't go wrong.

$150 dollars? *faints*

Pity I'm not taking on any custom requests I could have saved you a few bob. I would suggest that you shop around a little and I'm betting you'll get a better quote.

To give you a little bit of a suggestion I would ask for a scenic country type design, think summer with a image of a carp jumping out of the water with that summer soft pastel coloured warm feeling.

That would give you something to base the style from and use those soft colours I recommened. ;)

I will be shopping around for a designer for sure, the forum is working so I'm in no great hurry, i would rather get the right person than regret it at a later date.

the pictures attached are carp fishing magazine that i moderates logo, does'nt resemble anything fishy related and thats fine.

we're not looking for a copy of this but just a example of a modern logo without using the fishy parts. we feel our name alone will reconize us as a carp fishing site.

We are just looking for something modern, we also don't think it has to be over fishy related, it may not even have any fishy look at all.

if we can get a really good logo then we maybe able to pass on having the header work as I would just make the header a graidient then attach the logo.

I'm planning to purchase the photopost gallery so will be using the random pics on forum home that will identify it as a carp fishing site.

I'm glad you decided to post at vb.org and get a general idea on logo pricing vs designers experience/ logo complexity. To me, 150$ was way to much and as the member at the other respected site said you'll be looking at 30-50 dollars.

Goodluck with the logo and finding the right designer. :classic:
