Also wanted to make a brief announcement. We reached a little problem with feedback. It seems that it quite hard trying to keep up with the feedback from all the different sites. We dont want to set up our own site as we dont want people thinking we are spamming...Plus that takes more resources then we have at the moment. We have about 15 sites to keep up with and its crazy to say the least. We also wanted to get our podcast exposed to people that do not have vbulletin and are thinking of buying it. With the great help of the staff at theadminzone, we decided to have our own dedicated forum for feedback there. It exposes the podcast to potential customers and centralizes everything for a more efficient format.

Heres is the link to the direct forum:

We are also working on implementing a system for live irc questions from listeners for interviews. It wont be implemented until April..

As any project in it's early stages, there are bugs, but we plan to get them worked out as we go....

Am listening to the cast now guys... and I hear some very useful stuff being discussed on there. I am looking forward to seeing how you structure future vBCasts, and how the whole project develops in terms of content that will be interesting to the entire vB community.

Personally, I feel this is a great idea, and is very personable - allowing vB owners to hear a little more about some notable hackers and successful vB owners. You'll already have alist of people to contact for future casts - if you want someone with a moderately successful forum from the UK to chat - shout.

Not going to join another forum just to leave feedback sorry guys.
The podcast was good maybe a little too all american for my taste some humour just doesnt transfer well or maybe people from other parts of the world wont get it (I did get it btw) but thats not really an issue. The one thing that did stand out to me was discussion on things you could see but the listener could not. I would be carefull on how you discuss things like that its all wel and good discussing the new look vbhackers for example but if the listener cant see what it is your discussing they may get bored and switch off.

OK, I listened from start to finish and thought I'd add another post here with some ideas and suggestions...

Maybe start the cast with an itinery of what's going to be discussed within it. This would set the scene for listeners to make a decision as to what pieces of the cast they may be more interested in. Once you revise the system you use to record the cast you may also like to state a time-into the cast where a certain section can be found.

Also include a section at the start where you announce what www sites you are going to be talking about or referring to during the cast. Again, this gives the listener time to get these open on their browser before the discussion starts. OK, I know they can easily pause then resume, but hey - it's just a thought.

One thing I found annoying was the constant mouse clicking heard from start to finish of the cast. Is there any way you can eliminate that?

Suggested Subject Matter: Can I suggest you include summary discussions on many subjects, with detailed discussion on only a few. Talking for an extended time on a single subject runs the risk of overkill on that particular subject, whereas including a few minutes discussion on many more subjects provides a broader spread of interest to the listening community, and you stand a greater chance of becoming way more successful. If you get a lot of interest on the subjects talked about only for a few minutes, then perhaps you can announce details of a 'specialist cast' covering that topic. Once things take off for you I am sure there will be a demand for more specialist discussions... heck, you could even introduce a charging system for casts such as that. You guys are sure gonna be busy.

Can I suggets some subject mater areas.
  • Don't forget your listeners who are noobies to vB and forum management in general. A section on the basics of vB would be great for those - and besides... everyone has to start somewhere so to broadcast on a subject that would appeal to a large subset of vB owners is good yeah?
  • Styling, CSS and themes: Always a great topic for discussion. vB owners are always wanting to tyr out the easiest, cheapest and most straightforward method of customising their forums. Maybe talk a little about skin and style design, how to create a simple unique style for your forum etc. This I feel would be a hot topic and could be one that moves up to the specialist area I elude to earlier.
  • Coding, Hacks and PHP: Many people would love to add plug-ins and hacks to their board but may not know how to. Why not include a 'Lets install the xyz hack today' section. Then simply run through the exact procedure a vB owner would need to go through to get that hack/plug-in installed. tell them what they shoudl see on screen as you are doing it... sort of a tutorial etc. I am sure this would be a great hit too.
  • A section on vB Permissions and Usergroups: Many people are sometimes confused by how to make best use of vB permissions, usergroups and access masks.
There are a load more which I am sure you guys have already considered. If I can help... shout me or PM me...

great work guys
John
