Definitely more convergence towards traditinal media. We're going to see more moves with the movie industry adapting to (or at least testing) online business models.

There is still an opportunity to find better ways to interact. I'm still not convince that social networks like myspace are the answer.

I'd love to hear members ideas on what is the next best thing. Perhaps the next "Larry Page" and "Sergey Brin"s of the world are lurking here now. ;)

I think Parakey has a whole lot of potential to hit big. It's something new from the creator of firefox, Blake Ross. It's a lot like what Google is doing with Google Desktop. Basically, the gap between your browser and your desktop is going to be bridged, making it a whole lot easier to share all sorts of files, including and especially media. You can read more about it in an interview here: IEEE Spectrum: The Firefox Kid

Looks interesting.

I think there is an opportunity for integration between all services, with some sort of interface that allows non-advanced users to collect data and information from multiple sources and manage it in an effortless way, without much work involved.

This would basically be making the databases accessible. Then an application similar to how database software works with form creation, etc. could retrieve forum views contributed by other users.

For instance, you might be able to browse for data views or applications related to "Bank of America". You browse and find an application that can take your data and estimate areas of spending (cash withdrawls vs. grocercies vs. clothing) with some built in logic.

This democratizes Web service extensions and allows users to progress their capabilities and share them, without relying on the primary Web service provider for anything other than reliable data feeds.

@Joe Ward

Is there anything like that in the works already? It sounds like some next gen RSS.

Smile

I think a lot will depend on what companies like AT&T do regarding putting up 'toll booths' on the net :ermm:

Toll Booths on the net. That's interesting. I think Movies is the next big place to go. Just like On-Demand for your TV i think.
