I started on phpbb some years ago, it was great as a free alternative but I think once you go vB you never go back..

Yep, I started with it. I also used it some time ago for some little forum which I ran on a free host, for a school project.

well i started off using phpbb
then really liked trying to hack it(modifiy not hack).

then i made the switch to vBulletin and never want to go back to phpbb now

The main reason I left phpbb is it's crippled search function.
You can't search thread titles !
That alone made me look for a better alternative, as VB definitively is.

Yep, agreed.

I went from PHPBB to IPB (back when the demos were free and fully functional) to vB.
