Most of the time I used Notepad for the coding work, but I have been using SciTe also alot, it has syntax colouring for many many languages, it's really great.

For ftp stuff is flashfxp still the thing. Also for editting files on serverside is ffxp the thing to use.

For SSH acces I still use good old putty

Another nice program I use while coding is regex coach.
I suggest you to stop using regex coach, I found it harder to learn regex coach then to learn the actual regular expressions. I can do them very easy now. It will take you a day but then you are the queen.

Regex coach is a fine application for debuging. You just have to know how to use it. If you work with multiple languages then you need something like this.

Also - something I find important for larger projects is flow charting. I used to use SmartDraw, but recently discovered:
Gliffy.com - Create and share diagrams online.

Have you tried this out? Looks pretty neat.

Actually I'm mistaken I don't use the coach anymore for just being crappy code, I like regexbuddy far more.

And yes I can write them too from memory but there are some I just can't manage to create and it helps to have it bugtest my regex' :p

Gliffy is pretty neat... thanks Joe. I used to use a similar program for database planning/editing but I can't think of the name at the moment.

Another handy tool for FireFox users is IETab. It lets you switch between FireFox and Internet Explorer(6?) inside the current tab, and some context menu buttons such as open in new IETab.

I use PHP Designer as my PHP IDE, Core FTP Lite for my FTP client, and am currently working on my own bug tracker which I will be using for people to report bugs.
